Swing for the Arts: Charity Golf & Tennis Tournament - June 19, 2009 (Marana) The Greater Oro Valley Arts Council (GOVAC) presents a charity golf and tennis tournament to benefit area arts organizations, hosted at the new The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain. Times: Golf, 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. El Tour Golf Classic - Nov. 20, 2009 (Tucson). Southern Arizona Golf Invitational - 2009 Date TBD (Tucson). JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa hosts annual charity golf invitational, followed by an elegant evening gala, and silent auction. WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship - Feb. 15-21, 2010 (Marana) This cornerstone of the World Golf Championship (WGC) series will be played at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain. This luxurious golf resort is located 20 miles northwest of Tucson, in the city of Marana, surrounded by the lush Sonoran Desert foothills of the Tortolita Mountains. The widely popular Match Play event features five days of internationally televised competition between the best 64 available golfers from the Official World Golf Ranking, with a purse of $8 million. Proceeds from the event benefit the Tucson chapter of The First Tee and other area charities. International Federation of PGA Tours. Dan Felix-Colorado Rockies Baseball Club Celebrity Golf Tournament - Feb. 2010 (Marana) The Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team supports the Dan Felix fund by co-hosting this tournament (a scramble format with a Rockies player or coach joining each foursome), which starts at 1 p.m. The entry fee includes a box lunch, eighteen holes of golf with cart, complimentary course beverages, gift items and the awards dinner at The Gallery Golf Club. Casa de los Niños Golf Classic XX - April 2010 Date TBD (Tucson) Sam Levitz Furniture and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona present a golf tournament at Arizona National Golf Club to benefit the Casa de los Niños children's care center and family services programs.
